BEACH LAWNS WORK

Work to improve access to the Beach Lawns in Weston-super-Mare and prevent damage to the surface gets under way next week.

HOLDING BACK THE SANDS OF TIME

If you haven't had the chance to visit the fantastic Sand Sculpture Festival in Weston-super-Mare yet then don't panic!
The festival has been so successful that it will stay open for an extra two weeks! Originally planned to shut on September 5 it will now remain open until Sunday September 19.
So you can still marvel at the sandtastic sculptures and the intricate tableaux carved from Weston's sand!

FAMILY FUN AT MILLENNIUM GREEN

A double celebration takes place this Saturday to celebrate the Potteries neighbourhood in Weston-super-Mare.

The event, held by The South Ward Neighbourhood Management Partnership, will celebrate the first of two Potteries clay sculptures being installed as part of the South Ward Arts Strategy (see www.southward.org.uk for more information) as well as the newly completed mural wall.

PICNIC IN JUBILEE PARK

Everyone is invited to come and celebrate in Jubilee Park this weekend!

The park has just been awarded a Green Flag, the first park to gain this award in North Somerset which recognises well-managed, high-quality spaces with excellent recreational facilities. The Friends of Jubilee Park group will be on hand with information about how they get involved with managing this fantastic park and the opportunities available to other people.

The celebratory event takes place on Sunday August 15 and begins at noon with a skate jam organised by local skaters with music and competitions.

SAND SCULPTORS BACK IN TOWN!

Three members of the sand sculpting team who created this year’s Great Britain themed festival will be back in Weston-super-Mare to add some more fantastic sand sculptures.
Nicola, who created the Shakespeare and Dylan Thomas sand sculptures plus Baldrick, who built the famous Lou and Andy sculpture will be joined by Susanne, a sculptor from last year to build some additional masterpieces.
Visitors to the festival will be able to see the sculptors at work from Saturday July 24 until Sunday August 1, when they will be demonstrating their skills and be on hand to answer any questions.

INCANDESCENT SKIES

The skies on Weston-super-Mare's seafront will light up with spectacular fireworks displays this summer.
The displays will take place at 9.30pm from Knightstone Island next Saturday (July 31) and every Saturday night during August (7, 14, 21 and 28).
The fantastic displays are being sponsored by Carters Steam Fair, The Wheel of Weston operated by Great City Attractions, The Cove Restaurant and Kiosk, Victorian Café, Wookey Hole and Firestorm Fireworks, as part of the Weston200 celebrations.
