Tourism operators get familiar with district

More than 50 tourism operators were treated to a special guided tour of Lichfield City’s top tourist attractions

Visit Lichfield, Lichfield District Council’s tourism team, held a ‘Familiarisation Visit’ for 52 coach tour operators this April. They came along to find out more about Lichfield city centre’s many tourist attractions.

The day-long taster tour included visiting Lichfield Cathedral, Erasmus Darwin House, Lichfield Heritage Centre, The Samuel Johnson Museum and the Lichfield Garrick & Tourist Information Centre.

The group was also treated to presentations about Staffordshire Regiment Museum and the National Memorial Arboretum.

Maureen Roberts, Travel Trade Officer for Lichfield District Council, said: “We are always happy to welcome new visitors to our beautiful and fascinating city. This day out was a great way for tour operators to sample Lichfield’s rich historical heritage, to see which areas will interest their customers the most. We’ve had some fantastic feedback from the tour operators, and many have said they are looking forward to bringing their groups to Lichfield District in the future.”
