Search is on for Wills & Kate Doubles in Eastbourne!
To celebrate the final countdown to the Royal Wedding and the huge screening that will take place in Eastbourne’s Princes Park, the UK’s sunniest place is launching a search for the best Wills and Kate look-alikes.
Those who think they bear a resemblance to either Prince William or Kate Middleton are being encouraged to submit their photographs via email or upload directly to the VisitEastbourne facebook page for the chance to be crowned King and Queen look-alike at the Eastbourne Royal Wedding event.
On Friday 29 April, residents and visitors are invited to escape the hustle and bustle of London and celebrate the Royal Wedding with a giant screening in Princes Park followed by games and live music and organisers Eastbourne Borough Council want the best Wills and Kate doubles to come along.
Eastbourne Borough Council Events Development Manager Mike Marchant said “We are very excited to celebrate the Royal Wedding here in Eastbourne and we’re already marking the occasion with a huge screening and entertainment, so to find our very own Prince William and Kate Middleton would just be the icing on the cake! The LTA are offering a pair of tickets to the Legends event at the AEGON International Tennis Championships to the best doubles so it’s a great opportunity to be King and Queen for the day and to enjoy a day out at Eastbourne’s world renowned tennis tournament later this summer.”
The best Prince William and Kate Middleton look-alikes will be invited to receive their crowns at Princes Park next Friday and will each receive a pair of tickets to the new Tennis Legends event, which is part of the AEGON International at Devonshire Park in June. With some of the world’s most famous names in tennis already confirmed to take part, including Martina Hingis and Goran Ivanisevic, it promises to be an exciting addition to the week long grass court championships.
Those interested in entering should email their photos to competitions@eastbourne.gov.uk or upload them to the VisitEastbourne page on facebook at www.facebook.com/visiteastbourne. A gallery will be added to receive comments on the best resemblances.
Final preparations are being made for next Friday’s Picnic in the Park in Eastbourne with ER Riley and the Mojo Makers getting warmed up to entertain the crowds once the nuptials have been broadcast on the 25 square metre screen.
Princes Park will be dressed with red, white and blue flags and bunting in the true spirit of the occasion and picnickers will be able to watch the couple’s wedding followed by live music and traditional games, including tug of war and musical chairs.
Revellers are invited to dress up in their best red, white and blue regalia too with tickets for Eastbourne Beer Festival to be awarded to the best fancy dress on the day.
The event is free and will be open from 10am-6pm at Princes Park.
