Lichfield District Arts Partnership’s Exhibition
On Thursday 8 March 2011, specially invited guests enjoyed an evening of the arts – including fine art, music, dance and performing arts at Chase Terrace Technology College.
Presented by Lichfield District Arts Partnership, the evening was a chance to show the variety of projects that are going on across the district.
Highlights included music from The Offbeat, Rockit and a flute duo, as well as a demonstration by Pedralta – a world fusion and tribal belly dancing group.
Councillor Bernard Derrick, Vice Chairman of Lichfield District Council and Chairman of the Lichfield district Arts Partnership, said: “This was a wonderful evening, and showed just how much creativity and talent we’ve got in the district. Thank you to everyone who took part and made this such an interesting and entertaining event.”
The evening was also a chance to hear how work on Chase Terrace Technology College’s art space is progressing. This will see the students running an arts venue for the college and wider community, expected to open next year.
Tim Chamberlin, Deputy Head of Chase Terrace Technology College, commented: “We were delighted to host this district-wide event, which showcased the wonderful talents of our home grown artists. I was especially proud to see school students’ work exhibited beside the displays of more established artists. It was a great taste of what our new art space will offer the community in the future.”
Exhibitors included: Lichfield District Arts Partnership, Chase Terrace Technology College, Lichfield Society of Artists, The Friary School, The Arts Foundation for Lichfield, Lichfield District Arts Association, Lichfield Mysteries, Pedralta, Morph4us, Lichfield Festival, Innovation Centre/Forest of Mercia, Lichfield Operatic Society, Staffordshire Performing Arts, Lichfield District Council and South Staffordshire University.
