Eastbourne Ready for Extreme Battle of the Bands
More than 20 acts are being drummed up for the biggest Battle of the Bands yet in Eastbourne with weekly heats getting underway next month to find the most popular acts to perform on stage at Eastbourne Extreme in July.
Battle of the Bands will start on Sunday 15 May at TJs Nightclub in Eastbourne with 2010 winners Spaniels Ears returning to perform and drawing the three bands that will play on each week over the eight week countdown.
Eastbourne’s popular extreme sports festival returns to the eastern seafront from 16-17 July and attracting a strong youth audience, organisers are on the look out for the best bands to perform the soundtrack to the free two day event.
Eastbourne Borough Council Events Development Manager Mike Marchant said “We have always had bands performing live at Eastbourne Extreme and it’s been a popular attraction with the thousands of visitors who like to sit back and soak in the festival atmosphere. Last year’s inaugural Battle of the Bands had a fantastic response and we are very excited to bring the competition back for 2011 and grateful to the many supporters for providing a venue for the weekly heats and putting a great prize package together. Let battle commence!”
Three bands will perform every Sunday night at 7.30pm at TJs Nightclub between 22 May and 10 July with the final round taking place on Saturday and Sunday at Eastbourne Extreme. White Bus, Audio 6, Our Momentum, Monroe, Dinosaur Attack, Thirty Six 50, Juno and The Masts are just some of the bands already signed up to take part. Music lovers can go along and support the bands and enjoy top live music for just £3.
The winning band will receive the chance to record at Riverside Studio who are supporting the competition alongside Central and Archery Area Panel, Homegroup, YDS, Bonners and Eastbourne Borough Council.
Attracting more than 20,000 visitors each year, the final shortlist of bands will perform in front of a huge audience against a backdrop of adrenaline-pumping sports, including new attraction Zero Gravity Biking as well as parkour, ION Man contest, windsurfing, kitesurfing, powerboating, zorbing and many more.
